Erin & Josh
Erin & Josh. Bright, Genuine, Joyous, Colorful. I crossed paths with Erin last winter and swooned over her ideas as she, her florist & I shared wedding dreams over gyros. Erin is radiantly kind, and so creative. She managed to plan this dream wedding alongside rushing rivers with bouquets of bursting color, delicate hand-made details and the perfect mix of elegant and bohemian elements. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Josh until the day of, but I will never forget when he called me that morning to discuss location ideas for the first look (we were about 4 hours into the mountains and my second and I made a weekend of the trip!)- he kept sending me the sweetest, funniest selfies of him at all these different locations. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man so crazy excited before. Erin & Josh completely match each other with this contagious energy and It was the sweetest day made even sweeter by their undeniable and truly adorable love for one another.
The night before the wedding, my second and I took some time to shoot pictures of the milky way, as we were so far from light pollution we could actually see it. We took some really silly and sometimes crappy star pictures, but there were a few that turned out stunning. Fast forward to the next morning, we arrived at the cabin of Dallenbach Ranch around noon to the happiest group of people setting flower crowns and sharing gifts.
One of my favorite details, was the pheasant feather bouttonnieres they incorporated into Josh’s wedding get-up. Erin’s dad has a passion for pheasant hunting and I am still astounded at how beautifully they tied their and their family’s passions into all the little things.
Erin & Josh are also huge readers, and I loved that they included one of their favorite books for me to photograph their details with!
Bright.
The Boys:
Genuine.
We settled on this amazing bright red rock that sat over the river, and squealed with excitement as we led Erin through the woods to see Josh for the first time.
I mean….
Joyous.
One of my personal favorite parts about having a second shooter, is getting to see the goofy stuff they do only after I get home and look through their photos. How great are these group shots?!
The Ceremony:
One of the key things Erin mentioned about their ceremony, is that a lot of kids would be there. A lot of people choose not to include kids in their weddings, but it was truly unreal how well behaved I believe the nearly 20 children that were there, were. I cherish being able to grab genuine and silly moments of kids being kids, and this ceremony was just lousy with adorable kids.
Colorful.
The Reception:
For wedding favors, Erin and Josh set out all their favorite books for their guests to choose from. I absolutely love this idea.
Josh loves to make his own ice cream, and for dessert he special made three different flavors for everyone to choose from. I may have been one of the first in line.
I think one of my favorite parts about sparkler exits, is getting not only that dreamy kiss shot, but turning to everyone holding the sparklers and getting their crazy laughter and faces of joy. Look how happy they are!
Radiant.
One of my most treasured shots of this day, was this double exposure I did of Erin and Josh dancing in the teepee he hand made for her after she said she wanted one. I shot it in camera with the image already on my card of the milky way that morning, and it was truly magic.
Erin & Josh, If I could choose to shoot your wedding over and over again, I would. Thank you for adding so much inspiration, creativity, and joy to a job I didn’t think could get any dreamier.
