Jenna & Robin
Where to start with these two - First of all, they’re amazing. Second, they’re incredibly interesting, and even more kind. We crossed paths earlier this year when they inquired for an engagement session; So one foggy March day we met up to run around RiNo and pose in front of all the beautiful graffiti. We had exchanged a few sweet emails, where they gave me literal paragraphs about why they love eachother, and they learned my love of strangely tiny things. So they showed up to their engagement session with nothing other than the tiniest notebook and tiniest colored pencils they could find, since they heard I loved to draw too. I love them. and my colored pencils.
As we ran around from colorful explosions on brick to giant space men painted on stairs, they told me about their dreams to open up a vintage arcade, and to restore old 80’s games themselves, and bring them back into an atmosphere much like the one they spend their days making coffee in. They’re endlessly creative, and strong willed. Which is why it’s no surprise that to celebrate their marriage, they wanted to go all the way across the pond to Isle of Skye, Scotland. It’s that neat little area at the tippy top of the country that is mainly just rolling bays, lakes, mountains and sheep. And a few crazy, out-of-this-world-beautiful views.
We arrived in Scotland about 2 days before their elopement day, and spent the day before running around the island, driving on one-lane 60pmh roads that go both ways, swinging through sweet harbor towns and climbing to the top of views we thought “hey, I could see us exchanging vows here.”
WEDDING DAY. There’s always something so surreal about a wedding day. Whether that be in front of 300 people, or just the two of you. The nerves are the same, and that eager-excitement is contagious. Jenna and Robin made breakfast together, and once we (my second and I) showed up, they opted to get ready in separate rooms and see eachother again for the first time, in the rolling hills of Old Man of Storr.
Jenna and Robin wrote their vows in this sweet little black book, that flipped upside down to reveal what each other had wrote. They both took the time to draw a picture for each other on the opening page, and it was so beautiful. They got ready in a modern airbnb that had all the gothic undertones that they are so wonderfully drawn to.
About Robin, by Jenna.
“Robin is this incredibly kind hearted ultra nerd who looks like the super attractive character in an anime movie ;-) He has always been into working with his hands since he was a kid and currently has been fixing old 80s style arcade machines. He’s going to open an 80’s style arcade in a couple of years and is super passionate about pursuing that! Robin loves everything wacky and obscure, bright colors, little characters with cute faces, and music that’s kind of ambient/melancholy with sweet beeps and boops. He’s a super unique person, I can’t wait for you to meet him!”
Robin and my second headed out first, to get a head start hiking up to the spot we picked out and also to pick up gloves since it was literally freezing.
About Jenna, by Robin.
“No joke it is legitimately hard to find a place to start when describing Jenna. First off, she is crazy beautiful and has a super unique and thoughtful style about her. She is 100% the sweetest person I’ve ever met, and loves taking care of the people around her. Growing up in New Mexico gave her a super rad connection to, and perception of, the world. She’s very spiritual, and loves creating beauty through drawing, painting, music, interior design.. the list is endless! She’s incredibly thoughtful and takes the time to place every bunch of flowers and candles on a table with intention. She’s very aware of the mood and energy of everyone in a room, and loves to talk astrology, and all things personality! Don’t let her beautiful, sweet, serious outside deceive you though.. deep down she is the biggest nerd you’ll ever meet. Dig and you’ll find every spongebob quote imaginable, along with a love for cats and anime. Yeah so pretty much SHE’S UNBEATABLE.”
Jenna and I left shortly after, as she clenched her teeth watching me terrifying-ly drive on the other side of the road. We also stopped to pick some wild flowers and got chased out of the flower bushes by the garbage men. Not without an awesome hand-made bouquet, though. When we arrived, we saw tiny silhouettes of Roni and Robin hiking up before us, and giggled with excitement as she LITERALLY hiked up in heels to get married. What a woman.
My favorite first kiss of all time.
It was at this point a small group of hikers had stopped to witness and gave an adorably supportive “woooo!”
It was windy as hell, and we bounced up to the top of this ridge to overlook the water and the rolling hills.
“Robin and Jenna are pretty and they know it.” -me, at some point around here.
THEY’RE MAAAARRRRRIIIIEEDDDD.
Portree, Scotland.
In lieu of a reception, we shared a celebratory lunch over some delicious chorizo quesadillas, and skipped around the harbor before hecking off and leaving Jenna & Robin to be married.
“You’re simply the best. Better than all the rest, better than anyone. Anyone I’ve ever met.”
Here’s to you, Jenna & Robin.
and your adventurous spirit.
